In 1991 an effort to increase quality and quantity Al-Watania has introduced animals from Turkey, Syria and Bisha for breeding purposes. In an effort to market its livestock, the Company has established a specialized project which undertakes the sale of sheep, goats, camels and calves. The company also markets local, Najdi and Bisha goats. There are more than 1200 camel available. Trained staff manages the ostrich farm. The ostriches are reared as “free-range”. Al Watania Rabbit herd produces more than 37,000 newborns, where the mothers are fertilized seven times per year as an average. The produce is estimated to be 50 new born for each mother/year. The fattening process lasts about 75 days until the rabbits reach the weight of 2-2.5 kg, when they are slaughtered and packed in a hygienic
way.
Fish meat is considered as a healthy food, because it is rich with its high nutrition and lack of cholesterol, it also prevents heart and artery diseases because it contains some well-known fatty acids. Fish meat is also rich with vitamins and salts that fight tooth decay, eye diseases and bone weakness.
