Aiming initially at producing grains such as wheat and barley in addition to dates, the company established this project in 1982. In line with the government's policy to diversify agricultural products, the company introduced other harvests such as field and greenhouse vegetables and fruits. This development also coincided with livestock husbandry within the agricultural cycle such as ostrich. The project area exceeds 10,000 hectares and have 65 green houses spanning a total area of 36 hectares in one of the largest projects in the world.
Al-Watania agricultural company first began its project for warm water fish production (tilapia and catfish) in 1993 in Al-Qassim due to availability of the marketing and consuming needs in the area. The beginning was very modest with only faberglass basins, which before long was replaced by large cement basins and the old faberglass basins were used as hatchers .
Production capacity:
The project consists of large cement basins (24 basins) with an overall capacity of 220 tons per year, and on the other hand , the capacity of the hatcher reaches 6000 to 7000 eggs per day and 4000 to 5000/Per day.
