Al-Watania uses a unique irrigation system called SCADA . More than six scientific sides and local and international companies have joined in designing it including:
King Fahad University for petroleum and Minerals, Abu nayan and Motorola.
The system components:
1 Centeral control unit.
2 Motorolla communication systems.
3 Meterology station.
4 2 electric stations with two high pressures Towers.
Information about the natural characteristics of soil /soil structures / specific gravity / permeation / humidity tension and all other information about the weather, soil and yield, and stored in the central control unit.
The meteorology unit provides information about heat / relative humidity / winds / radiation strength. The information system in the control unit provides data about the growing stages of each product and the water needs in each stage. Communication is set between the control unit and the central sprinklers / Meteorology and well by a group of aerials that are contacted through the Motorola communication system. When the humidity content decreases by the electronic humidity sever an electronic signal is sent to the water diver in the well which then starts the work. In case of rainfall or high temperature, the meteorology station gives the control unit data which is then analyzed. After that, the control unit takes the decision of irrigation or not in the light of all the other factors. If some mechanical fault occurs in one of the control sprinkling units, the system indicates that there is some kind of fault, and so the maintenance group does what is required to limit.
The SCADA system which Al-Watania has applied conservers the use of water where it connects the weather and the plant physiology with the water consumption for the yield during the growing season , and it also provides these needs in standard rates without having to waste water, and it achieves very high production rates.
